This lecture by Judy LaJoie discusses a variety of treatments which when used in conjunction with standard wound therapy, significantly increase the rate of wound healing. These adjunctive treatments can shorten the duration of hospital stay and avoid the eventual necessity of amputation of lower extremities.

Goal and Objective
After participating in this activity, the viewer should be better able to:
1. Recognize the impact that diabetic foot ulcers have on both the individual and healthcare system as a whole.
2. Identify risk factors for the development of ulcer formation.
3. Describe the various types of adjunctive therapies that exist for wound care.
4. Recognize that not all therapies are appropriate for all patients and that some treatments have contraindications.
