Dr. Richard Bergenstal, MD discusses blood glucose monitoring in this lecture. He will review multiple studies showing the efficacy of self monitoring blood glucose and discuss how to use the SMBG to empower patients to manage their glucose, not just monitor it.

Goal and Objective
After participating in this activity, the viewer should be better able to:
1. 1. Identify past tools used to test glucose levels.
2. Describe how to set a glycemic target.
3. Describe results of SMBG vs. no SMBG meta analysis.
4. List Dr. Peel's 5.principles for better glucose management.
