The controversial topic of patient non-compliance is explored in-depth in this lecture. Many of the diverse etiologies that have been identified are discussed and the more common ones are explored in case-study format, based on actual cases. Methods for overcoming patient non-compliance are discussed as well as the significant impact that this activity has on the medical system. After viewing this lecture, the student will be able to identify non-compliance in his patients and implement methods to successfully overcome that destructive behavior.

Goal and Objective
After participating in this activity, the viewer should be better able to:
1. Cite the causes of non-compliant behavior in our patients
2. Describe the stages of noncompliant behavior
3. Explain how noncompliant behavior impacts the healthcare system
4. Design a plan to monitor this multi-faceted problem
5. Develop ways to enhance compliance in our patients
